The 2025 Sustainable Campus Index (SCI) showcases how colleges and universities are embedding sustainability across academics, operations, and community engagement. Drawing on data from the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS), the SCI names top performers in 13 impact areas and shares recent examples of innovation and leadership.
North Carolina State U Launches Climate & Sustainability Academy Website
The new Climate and Sustainability Academy unites three existing initiatives, establishes formal partnerships with two university offices and coordinates synergistic efforts among more than 20+ established programs. The academy aims to amplify climate and sustainability work through collaboration, communication and innovation.
Duke U Begins Business, Climate & Sustainability Master Degree Program
The university's new Master in Business, Climate and Sustainability program is a 10-month curriculum integrating business and climate-related subjects. The program's three primary domains are business fundamentals, including finance, analytics, operations, and leadership; climate literacy, spanning climate science, energy systems, and environmental policy; and applied tools and methods, such as carbon accounting and life-cycle analysis.
U Sydney Releases Climate-Related Financial Disclosure
(Australia) The recently published report applies climate scenarios to assess physical and transition climate risks, and outlines how climate considerations are being integrated into institutional strategy, governance and financial planning. The report also details progress against net zero targets, scenario modelling, and early initiatives to embed climate considerations into asset management, adaptation planning and research investment.
Princeton U Expands Affordability and Access
Beginning in the 2025-26 academic year, most families with incomes up to $150,000 a year will pay nothing for their child to attend Princeton, receiving aid to cover the total cost of attendance, including tuition, housing, food, books and personal expenses. Most undergraduate families with incomes up to $250,000 will pay no tuition, and some families with incomes up to and beyond $350,000 will receive grant aid.
