SUNY Old Westbury Receives $200M for Energy Efficiency
The New York State governor announced recently a $200 million investment for Old Westbury's Natural Sciences Building. The deep energy retrofit is expected to make the building 50 percent more energy efficient and will include a geothermal system for heating and cooling, modernized teaching laboratories, a new campus greenhouse, a green roof, and collaboration spaces for teaching and co-curricular activities.
College of the Atlantic Eliminates All Disposable Plasticware
The college's new reusable to-go program includes stainless steel containers, mugs and sporks, replacing an estimated 50,000 pieces of disposable plastic. The college signed Post-Landfill Action Network's Break Free From Plastics pledge in 2019. The program is supported by grant funding from the Marine Debris Foundation.
