2015 Champions of the Earth Award
The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is inviting nominations for the 2015 Champions of the Earth, the United Nations' flagship environment award that recognizes outstanding environmental visionaries and leaders and seeks to build momentum for the transition to a sustainable future. Deadline for receipt of nominations for 2015 has been extended to April 30.
The Sustainability Movement on Campus: Forming a Library Action Plan for Engagement
Offered through Library Juice Academy, this course focuses on the role of the academic librarian in the sustainability movement sweeping across U.S. campuses. The co-mingling of sustainability subject areas offers limitless opportunities for collaboration and cross-pollination between librarians and the faculty, students, staff and administrators we support. Emphasis will be on the curriculum with a preliminary exploration of how facilities management and co-curricular activities tie into the teaching and learning of sustainability. The course is from May 4-29.
Human Factors Prize: Excellence in Human Factors/Ergonomics Research
The topic for the 2015 Human Factors Prize is Human Factors/Ergonomics Research in Sustainability/Resilience. We seek articles that describe research pertaining to sustainable development that goes beyond a single human lifespan and instead focuses on future generations. Consideration should be given to the interaction between humans and systems over the course of the next few decades and beyond. The prize carries a $10,000 cash award and publication of the winning paper in the Society's flagship journal, Human Factors. The award will be formally conferred at a special session at the HFES International Annual Meeting, where the recipient will present his or her work. Submission period is June 1 - July 1.
Logo Design Competition 2015 World Environment Day
The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) invites designers around the world to create and submit their best logo design for the World Environment Day (WED) 2015 campaign. The designer whose logo is selected to be the official logo for 2015 WED will win a trip to Milan, Italy to visit the Expo Milano 2015. Submissions are due by April 19 at 4:59 p.m. Eastern.
Second Nature 2015 Climate Leadership Awards
The Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards recognize innovative and advanced leadership in sustainability, climate mitigation, and resilience at signatory campuses of the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment. This year, Second Nature is partnering with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools. Award winners will be recognized as part of the 2015 Greenbuild Leadership Awards Program on November 19 in Washington, D.C. Finalists not selected for the award will be invited to participate in a video competition. Applications due May 8.
2015 IARU Global University Climate Forum
The 2015 Global University Climate Forum taking place during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP21) in Paris in December 2015. The Global University Climate Forum is a call to action for university students. Student teams are invited to submit ideas for a project that will have measurable impacts – on campus, in communities or regions, or in the world. Selected teams will be invited to send two or three student representatives to participate in a one-day workshop during the conference. There are two application periods - one closing April 30 and the other Oct. 1, 2015.
U Vermont Campus Sustainability Leadership Program
The university is offering a five-day Campus Sustainability Leadership Program this summer. This program will focus on the institution's role in the transformation to a sustainable future with opportunities to expand the professional network of participants and learn from leaders in the field. The program can be taken as a professional certificate program.

Earth Day Network provides a platform for college students from around the globe to mobilize their campus for Earth Day 2015 happening on April 22. The website provides a media toolkit, the Billion Acts of Green platform, and resources for holding a climate communication forum.

The EPEAT Purchaser Awards are open to all organizations that purchase EPEAT-registered products. EPEAT, Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, is managed by the Green Electronics Council. Applications are due by April 6.
Call for Applications: Tufts Environmental Literacy Institute
The Tufts Environmental Literacy Institute (TELI) is a four-day interdisciplinary workshop that brings together educators from diverse backgrounds to engage in environmental issues. This year's theme is Climate-Safe Energy Futures: Vision, Implementation, and Education. The workshop will take place at Tufts University (near Boston, Mass.) from May 19-22. Topics covered will range from climate change to renewable energy to international equity. Educators are invited to apply by April 15.

Recognized as “Socially-Responsible Design’s Highest Award”, the Fuller Challenge invites students from all over the world to submit their innovative solutions to humanity’s most pressing problems. SEPN Education Policy and Practice Survey
All post-secondary students, faculty, sessional instructors, facilities managers, sustainability staff and administrators in an education institution in Canada are invited to participate in a 15-20 minute online survey to help Sustainability and Education Policy Network (SEPN) identify how education policy and practice on sustainability might be better developed and implemented. Participants will be entered for one of three $150 gift certificates to a bookstore of their choice.

Energy Dept Allocates $2.5M for Collegiate Clean Energy Tech
The newly announced $2.5 million in funding for the Cleantech University Prize (Cleantech UP) aims to support the commercialization of promising technologies for sectors such as solar and wind that reduce carbon pollution and grow the clean energy economy. The Cleantech UP Collegiate Competitions will provide prizes for eight individual university-focused competitions that will equip students with business skills to move clean energy technologies from the discovery phase to the marketplace.
Sustainable Campus International Competition 2015
The Sustainable Campus International Competition (SCIC) 2015 invites students to develop a sustainability project proposal they can implement within their campuses or local communities within one academic year (Sept. 2015 – June 2016). The SCIC will award $3,000 Canadian dollar ($2,410) to start the project. Ideas must be submitted before Feb. 15.
USGBC Curricular Needs for Higher Education Survey
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is engaging a focus group and conducting a survey to determine the types of curricular resources and technology platforms instructors use and need to provide high quality educational experiences for their students around sustainability and green building. Biomimicry Global Design Challenge
The Biomimicry Institute and the Ray C. Anderson Foundation announced the opening of the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge. Students are invited to submit commercially viable, nature-inspired solutions to global food system challenges. All participants get access to the Design Challenge Toolbox and supporting resources, including sessions with mentors and biomimicry professionals. The grand prize, to be awarded in 2016, is $100,000. Submissions are due August 3.

The Integrated Network for Social Sustainability is now accepting abstracts for its 2015 conference themed Social Sustainability and Infrastructure. Academic papers and non-traditional written media can be submitted that examine one of the two areas: defining social, political or ethical issues that emerge in the pursuit of sustainability, or encountering social, political or ethical approaches to addressing broad issues of sustainability. 500-1,000 word abstracts are due by February 15.
Call for Proposals: AESS 2015 Conference Deadline Extension
The Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences 2015 Conference is currently accepting individual abstracts for paper and poster presentations, workshops and panels to its theme Confronting Frontiers, Borders, and Boundaries taking place at the University of California San Diego on June 24-27. The conference theme will allow for interdisciplinary discussions about issues such as transboundary pollution, environmental equity and representation, international connections and collaborations, and teaching across disciplines. Submissions are due by January 30.

The Northeast Campus Sustainability Consortium and the New England Campus Sustainability Forum are accepting proposals for the April 2015 conference titled Strengthening Ties for Collective Impact: Campus Sustainability in the Northeast Region. Key conference objectives are to understand and discuss the most important and urgent regional sustainability issues, determine collective impact to address these issues and to grow as sustainability professionals. AASHE Advisory Council Opportunities
AASHE’s Advisory Council promotes and supports the organization’s growth and development, and advises staff on complex or specialized matters and general programmatic goals. The Advisory Council consists of leaders from higher education, business, nonprofit and government sectors, are nominated by AASHE members, volunteers and staff, and approved by the Board of Directors.
