Dartmouth College B-School Receives $52M for Endowed Sustainability Summit
The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth recently received a $52.1 million anonymous pledge to endow a recurring summit that convenes global leaders from the private and public sectors, academic researchers and students with the goal of inspiring action to improve the health, wealth and sustainability of people and the planet in the 21st century. Summit topics will explore the intersecting roles of public policy, health care, climate change, politics and finance in addressing global challenges.
WHO Working Group Calls for Climate Change Education for Health Professionals
The World Health Organization's Civil Society Working Group recently released a letter calling on universities and other education stakeholders to advance action on health and climate change. The letter underscores the importance of graduating health professionals being prepared to identify, prevent and respond to the health impacts of climate change and environmental degradation. It offers calls to action, example courses and additional resources.
Georgetown U Opens Environment & Sustainability Institute
The Earth Commons, Georgetown’s new Institute for Environment & Sustainability, is building new educational programming for undergraduate and graduate students, expanding research opportunities for faculty members and students, and developing scalable solutions for a sustainable campus and planet. The institute will be composed of multiple focal areas that will each focus on a major environmental issue, including environmental justice, climate change and energy transitions, environmental health, food and water security and biodiversity conservation.
Virginia Tech Launches Climate Action Living Laboratory
The new Climate Action Living Laboratory seeks to more deeply integrate the university's climate action commitment efforts into the university's educational mission and engage more students in hands-on learning opportunities around sustainability.
HKUST Launches Sustainable & Green Finance BS Program
(Hong Kong) Jointly offered by the School of Business and Management and the Division of Environment and Sustainability at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the new Bachelor of Science in sustainable and green finance covers multiple disciplines at the intersection of business, environmental science and technology. It is designed for those interested in ESG and impact investing, sustainable project financing, sustainable instrument and product development, and other related fields.
